Haven sits on a cliff where the Alentejo plains fall into the Atlantic. We have twelve rooms, one long table and no televisions. Most guests stop checking the time by their second day.
The rooms
A day at Haven
Take the 112 steps down to the cove. Towels and a flask of coffee wait at the bottom.
Warm bread from the wood oven, figs from the garden, eggs from the farm next door.
Read by the salt pool, borrow a bike, or sleep through the hottest hours like the locals.
Vinho verde, salted almonds and the best sunset seats on this stretch of coast.
Dinner for every guest at a single table under the stars. Strangers at eight, friends by eleven.
Dining
A set menu built each morning from what the fishermen bring up and what the garden gives. Twenty-four seats, one sitting, no menus.
Spa
A stone bathhouse carved into the cliff, with a seawater pool, a cedar sauna and treatments using algae gathered from the cove.
“We came for three nights and stayed for nine. Our phones spent most of it in a drawer.”
